Hi! In this article, we are gonna look at some free website providers. Let's start!
1. EU.org
as far as I know, eu.org is a DIY free domain name provider, meaning you have to do all the hardwork yourself. (nginx, name servers etc.)
- domain-style hosting (yourname.eu.org)
- they only give you the domain name
- %100 free
2. wordpress.com
it sucks, it's bloated and the free version lacks features like colors.
- subdomain-style hosting (yourname.wordpress.com)
- very bloated
- free version is useless, has 7 different plans (afaik)
3. github pages / github.io
alright for people who like the convenience of github and know html
- subdomain-style hosting (yourgithubname.github.io)
- synced with github
- %100 free
4. neocities.org
it's nice, but you cannot upload every file to it. alright for people who know html and want basic website.
- subdomain-style hosting (yourname.neocities.org)
- good for basic websites
- has a paid plan ($5 per month) that unlocks the file type limit and webdav (go google it)
5. wix.com
its kinda good actually, but the ai feature is bad
- email handle+page style hosting (youremail.wixsite.com/yourwebsite)
- has features nobody wants, but overall good
- has paid plans, but not like wordpress
6. straw.page
no html, meaning no customization
- subdomain-style hosting (yourname.straw.page)
- no editing the html, good for mini personal-pages
- has a paid plan but not so life-changing
7. yourself!
yes. you heard me right. install nginx, configure it, and you're done! try visiting your ip to test it.
- ip-style hosting (255.255.255.255)
- do what you want to do with it
- %1000000000000 free!!!!!1!!!11!!!!
bye!
